ABOUT BUCHAREST
It is the largest city in Romania, located in the southeast of the country, at 44°25′57″N 26°06′14″E, and it lies on the banks of the Dâmbovița River, less than 70 kilometers (43 mi) north of the Danube.
Economically, Bucharest is the most prosperous city in Romania and is one of the main industrial centers and transportation hubs of Eastern Europe.
The city has big convention facilities, educational institutes, cultural venues, traditional “shopping arcades” and recreational areas. The city has a 228 square kilometers surface and 1.88 million citizens (approximately 9.35 percent of the total population of Romania and the third in the region after Athens and Istanbul).
