LAST CALL

Last call – 9th HOPE Congress

9th European HOPE Congress
Together for a better education of sick children and adolescents
Preparing Pedagogues to work in a multidisciplinary team in Hospitals
Dates, place: November 5-8, Bucharest, Romania

Aims: The aim of the first HOPE Congress organized in an East – European country is bringing together the efforts and skills of children and youngsters with serious somatic and mental diseases, their families, teachers and health professionals during cognitive, emotional and personal development processes. The education of the sick children through the Hospital School takes the form of pilot projects, initiated by NGOs (e.g.: P.A.V.E.L) in several major cities in Romania. Although this continuing form of education is stipulated in the national Education Law there are many steps to accomplish until this project will be generalized in Romania. That is why we want to call the professionals from Europe and other parts oh the world to share their experiences, knowledge and practical ways in which they managed the politicians to support realizing/implementing the fundamental right to education of every sick child or adolescent. Romanian Association of Teachers and Educators working in Hospitals comprising several professionals aims to train specialists in this field. How comprehensive must be their training, what are the best strategies in working with children/adolescents with different diseases, how must act the hospital pedagogue in the multidisciplinary team such as the education to be as important as medical treatment? We hope to find an answer together, at many of these questions, inside of this Congress of HOPE.
The Congress will include keynotes speakers, presentations both academic and practice-oriented, as well as panel discussion.
